JB Evans 
b. 1980

John is an artist, film and television director, writer and author from Bangor, North Wales. Born and raised in North Wales and growing up in Bangor along the Menai Straits, John was surrounded by a mixture of urban and rural life.

A former soldier, John was a Royal Engineer and served in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the Balkans and Northern Ireland. This is reflected in some of his work on subjects such as war and conflict.

A Bangor University graduate John has won an RTS award and has seen his work nominated for multiple awards including a BAFTA.

He has been nominated by the Fine Art Trade Guild and the Visual Arts Association for his diverse and mixed body of work.

Y Wawr (Dawn)

An acrylic on canvas, 101 x 81 cm (40 x 32 in) depicting a service man being executed during the First World War. Many of them killed for erronious offences caused by the poorly understood mental health of war fighting soldiers.

Domination of the Houyhnhnm

The 2024 sculpture 'Domination of the Houyhnhnm’ depicts the suffering and loss if innocence due to war.
